Healthy Peanut Butter!

Wow, there aren’t even enough words to describe how much I love peanut butter. My mom has been making home made peanut butter ever since my brother and I were little. Grant’s and my favorite peanut butter treats were chocolate peanut butter shakes. They are to die for! Pretty much the highlight of my childhood. Sometimes when my mom made peanut butter, she would make us the peanut butter chocolate shake with the peanut butter that was leftover in the blender. 

This peanut butter is much healthier than the store bought brands. However, if you make your own peanut butter in the store, its pretty much the same. BUT this peanut butter is super creamy and has a smooth texture unlike the gritty store made peanut butter. yuck. There are no added oils or salts to this recipe either! All you need is peanuts! (And probably a high powered blender like the VitaMix, but maybe a food processor would work…I’ve never tried though) 

I’ll let you in on both the recipe for the peanut butter and the recipe for the chocolate shake because I’m just that nice (: your welcome. 

Peanut Butter:

2 cups honey roasted peanuts

2 cups roasted salted peanuts 

~ Combine the peanuts in the VitaMix and blend on the highest speed for 4-5 minutes. Once the peanut butter has reached a smooth texture, or the texture that you prefer transfer to an air tight container and store in the fridge. 

For the shake: (Serves 2)

1 banana

1 spoonful peanut butter

1 cup milk (might need to add more) 

2-3 tablespoon powdered milk 

2-3 tablespoons hot chocolate powder 

Ice cubes
